Forgive me, for I have sinned.
I have to admit that until recently I had no idea just how important it is to clean your makeup brushes. I just completely didn’t think about the fact that these things get completely covered in grime and old makeup, then rubbed into my face!
And trust me, my makeup brushes were really, really gross! I’ve been using the Real Techniques ‘Expert Face Brush’ for my foundation and I’ve been through almost a whole foundation without cleaning it (vile, I know). Until I cleaned them today I didn’t even realise the tip is white, and not a mucky orangey foundation colour! It’s really refreshing to have all my brushes so nice and clean. It also means its the perfect excuse to invest in a new foundation – potentially the MAC Studio Fix Fluid which I’ve been eyeing up for a while now, hehe!
I used the method posted on Lauren Conrad’s blog, which can be found here.
Due to a lack of babies in my house – and funds in my back account – I ended up using some Neutrogena T-Gel from the back of the bathroom cabinet, instead of baby shampoo. It was the perfect replacement though, and got my brushes squeaky clean. I also wish I’d been warned that foundation brush cleaning and white bathrooms don’t mix, as I found myself having to do some serious post-cleaning, cleaning – don’t think Mother would have been too happy with a new orange-y colour scheme for the bathroom!
If you know of any other methods for cleaning brushes, or any brush cleaner recommendations, please let me know!
